Surprise Dinner in the Crags

The surprise was backcountry skiing to a snowcovered picnic table in the dark in order to eat a hot dinner over a camp stove. As you can see there was a bit of snow involved (and a bit of wind!) but Levi was still enjoyfully surprised. (enjoyfully, hmm... I like that word) We enojoyed our 5 course meal that began with fine deli sandwiches, followed by the second course of Springboard Ale (New Belgium's newest brew). Our third course was a fine tortilla soup from a can and dessert was a yummy plethora of Girl Scout cookies (acutally there were only two for each of us). What truly made the meal though was the steel-tasting hot cocoa that Mandy made from the water she had used to heat up the can of soup using a double boiler technique. Yummy!

Chipotle in Costume

Well here we are in downtown Colorado Springs enjoying lunch outside of Chipotle on a warm 50+ degree day (hey we have had a cold winter also you midwesterners!). Well Mandy had asked Levi to wear a costume to lunch and so he arrived at her house wearing the trendiest outfit she had ever seen him wear ("I have only seen him wear carhartts!" Mandy was heard exclaiming). Well underneath his chic turtleneck sweater he revealed the newest in his line of homemade t-shirts. In case you cannot tell it is a picture of a windblown Mandy on top of a 14er, I don't know if that is the definition of "style"?!

Thanks for the Bridal Groomal Shower!!

While we were in Wisconsin at Christmas time Mandy's family threw us a shower. It was AWESOME!! We all met at a "paint your own pottery" shop. Cousin Stephanie had picked out the pieces that would be painted, we picked the colors for everyone to use, we gave instructions about "NO PAINTING UNICORNS!", and we were off! The creative juices were flying and when we were all done... ready to be fired was a beautiful handpainted set of dishes! Thank you so much to the Larsons, Andersons, Zahrbocks, Loxtercamps, Freizens, Bowmans, Burman, and Sikorski! You guys gave us a wonderful gift!!!

New Date and Location!!! May 12,2007 in Hudson, Wisconsin

Well we have wonderful news for those of you that do not know... Mandy's sister Erin is pregnant!!! This is most exciting but do to the closeness of this nephew/niece's birth and the fact that we were planning the ceremony at 9500' elevation we decided to change everything! We are forever indepted to the Dougherty's for their offer of location for a Colorado wedding.

So as the gears switch we find ourselves planning a wedding (ok so Mandy's mother Sandy is planning most of it! thanks mom) in Hudson, a small town in Wisconsin. We are getting married at the house that she grew up in (in fact she was baptized in this house... crazy). So Wisconsin it is on Saturday, May 12 2007... a little over three months away!!!

Mandy is Surely in LOVE!

So, here's the story... Mandy, who is NOT a rock climber decides to marry Levi, who definitely IS a rock climber. So one day, quite to the surprise of Levi, Mandy decides to ask Levi to take her climbing, and here are the pictures to prove it (for those that do not believe it!).

We Picked the Place! (but we needed to change it!)

We are quite excited to be getting married at the residence of James and Elizabeth Dougherty, which happens to also be the most beautiful bed and breakfast in the middle of the Rockies. We know that we are blessed to have such a wonderful location, and we already have so much to thank Jim and Liz for (ideas, opportunities, excitement, and those great cookies!). Hopefully you will get a slight taste of how great it is with these photos.

We're Engaged!

Well Levi did quite well in completely surprising Mandy when he popped the question in the Jewel Basin in the heart of the Flathead National Forest in Northwest Montana! It was spectacular, and after the question was popped we were able to enjoy the next four days of backpacking with our best of friends Maria and Brent!
